The Portland Trail Blazers have acquired swingman Rodney Hood from the Cleveland Cavaliers in a three-player trade. He also can not carry a team in any consistent way, or, really, be counted on as a wingman for whoever happens to be the alpha scorer.
Hood has averaged 12 points a game with the Cavaliers while shooting over 36 percent from 3-point range. Bench scorer Jordan Clarkson, rookie Collin Sexton, and second-year man Cedi Osman each score more per game than Hood, while Kevin Love, the Cavs'. The Blazers are 32-20 and fourth in the Western Conference. He tied his career-high with 24 points in a season-opening win over LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers.
The Cavaliers are continuing to add draft assets and are still pursuing trades for guard Alec Burks and JR Smith before Thursday's trade deadline. Baldwin, the No. 17 pick by the Memphis Grizzlies in 2016, has mostly played a deep reserve role for Portland. Through 44 games, the Canadian is averaging 6.1 points in 15.3 minutes per game. He has also played in six G League games this season, with the Texas Legends. In a Cavs jersey he averaged 11.7 points and 2.5 rebounds in 26.8 minutes per outing.
Stauskas, 25, and Baldwin, 22, have not started in a game this season.
