United's caretaker coach Solskjaer admitted that they could play better.

Manchester United could temporarily climb into the top four of the Premier League table when they take on relegation-threatened Fulham at Craven Cottage on Saturday.

The England worldwide has nine Premier League goals this season and scored in five of his last six games in the competition.

France International midfielder Paul Pogba has been performing well for Manchester United since the Solskjaer took over the mantle.

When asked by Robbie Savage if "anyone" could do the same job as Solskjaer, Ince - who was also sacked at Blackburn Rovers, MK Dons, Notts County and Macclesfield Town - said: "I believe they could, yes".

Solskjaer said: "When I rang the owner and said that United had called and that he always knew that this had been my dream, he said: 'Go over, enjoy yourself - and please don't come back'".

Ernesto Valverde rested midfield passing machine Arthur, opting for Arturo Vidal , even though Sergio Busquets was suspended too. However, it was not without cost as he needed treatment for what appeared to be a dead leg shortly after equalising.

"We didn't string passes together, we didn't control the game as much as I liked".

"I think I could have gone in at the time". We can find the gaps in between the defenders and the gaps between the lines, that's something we're really working on, because we don't want to be a predictable team.

Solskjaer added that he would be happy to keep advising United's hierarchy on matters such as player transfers even if he did not become permanent manager, saying his knowledge of the club's culture gave him a useful perspective. I feel very good, but I think everyone is feeling good, the players that come from the bench help a lot.

"Both owners (Kjell Inge Røkke and Bjørn Rune Gjelsten) wished me all the best because they knew this is something I dreamed about".

Solskjaer's appointment was made with the short term in mind, as he joined on what is effectively a loan from Norwegian side Molde, but it looks increasingly likely that the former United striker will be there for the long haul.

"If I deserve it, I will get it", he said.
