Nintendo said Thursday its net profit jumped almost 25 percent for the nine months to December, riding out the crucial holiday season thanks to blockbuster game titles for its popular Switch console.

Chinese trade deal ‘unacceptable’ unless Beijing opens markets, says Trump
Trump has set a March deadline for increasing tariffs on $200 billion worth of Chinese imports from 10 percent to 25 percent. USA officials and some analysts say they believe its weakening economy will pressure the Chinese into making concessions.
Nintendo has announced that it's bringing its Dr. Mario franchise to Android and iOS in a partnership with LINE Corporation, a Tokyo-based developer of mobile games.
That delay means Nintendo will miss its target of releasing two to three mobile titles each financial year, though CEO Furukawa said there was no change to that goal. Dr. Mario World is targeting an early summer 2019 global release, including in Japan and the United States. The Dr. Mario series stretches all the way back to 1990, when the original game hit the NES and Game Boy. Furthermore, it will feature multiple languages which include English and Japanese. The latest game in the series, Dr. Mario: Miracle Cure, came out for the 3DS in 2015. It will be a free-to-play game with optional in-app purchases.
"We are hoping it will be a new point of contact between consumers and Nintendo that a wide range of people, regardless of age, gender, or experience with games can enjoy", says Nintendo.
