- Rudy Giuliani, personal attorney to President Donald Trump, in comments given to Isaac Chotiner of the New Yorker after asking if he ever anxious that his legacy would be tarnished by "saying things for Trump, [and] not always being truthful about it".
In remarks to the New York Daily News, Giuliani walked back a CNN interview Sunday in which he said he did not know if Trump talked with Cohen before his 2017 Capitol Hill testimony, but added: "So, what if he talked to him about it?" The president told advisers that he felt his lawyer had obscured what he believed was a public relations victory: the special counsel's rare public statement disputing portions of a BuzzFeed News story that Trump instructed his former attorney, Michael Cohen, to lie before Congress.
Giuliani said on NBC's "Meet The Press" that Trump recalled having conversations with Cohen about the project throughout 2016, though there "weren't a lot of them".

"He can't tell you the date" that it ended, Giuliani said.
In a follow-up statement, Giuliani said his comments were "hypothetical" and did not represent the "actual timing or circumstances of any discussions".
U.S. President Donald Trump pursued a business deal to erect a tower bearing his name in Moscow throughout 2016, his attorney said on Sunday, raising new questions for congressional investigators looking into possible ties between the president and Russian Federation.
Factional warfare hots up after collapse of May's European Union Brexit deal
The long-time Eurosceptic left his role as foreign minister in the Summer over his unhappiness with the proposed Brexit deal. In a message to Mrs May, Mr Corbyn said: "Take no-deal off the table now please, Prime Minister".
Trump has not expressed an inclination to dismiss Giuliani.
In an interview with the New Yorker, Giuliani was asked why he concluded the report was false. "Said he had conversations with him but the president didn't hide this", Giuliani told Stephanopoulos, indicating that this was the timeline the president provided in his written responses to special counsel Robert Mueller's questions. He said it's likely that Giuliani has a good idea about what Mueller may have on the president, and if he could slowly release the information, it will be "more palatable". "And the president had no conversations".
The plans, Buzzfeed reported, included detailed financial arrangements: the Trump Organization would get a $4 million up-front payment. They didn't even know where to send it, they knew so little about it.
The president told confidants that Giuliani had "changed the headlines" for the worse and raised the possibility that Giuliani do fewer cable hits, at least for a while, according to the officials and Republicans. So anytime during that period they could've talked about it.
"I am afraid it will be on my gravestone".
"First of all, the Times was absolutely wrong", said Giuliani. "And I think it's remarkable that we're two years after the fact and just discovering it today". "But, if it is, so what do I care?"
Giuliani argued on Monday, as he did a day prior to CNN, that Trump viewed the project as insignificant because it consisted at the time of only an unfunded letter of intent.
